Neurodegenerative research

Neurodegenerative disease is an umbrella term for a range of conditions which primarily affect the neurons in the human brain.

Welcome to the EU Joint Programme - Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) website. This is a European Union member state-led initiative to tackle one of the 'grand challenges' which faces European society, namely that of neurodegenerative diseases. Grand challenges are issues such as climate change, food and energy security. Realistically they are beyond the capacity of any individual country to resolve, and would benefit from a co-ordinated approach to research.
